Google+ And Google Reader, Together At Last

October 24th, 2011 by douceswild

If you're a love of Google Reader and Google+, then you'll be excited about the company's announcement to breed the two applications.

I use Google Reader and Google+ on a daily basis to keep up with news, friends, and share information. I was excited to read on The Official Google Reader Blog that over the week, Reader will not only receive a new look, but  many of it's features will be available through G+, making it easier to share info with the right circles.

Some of Google Reader's features will be retired, like friending, following and shared link blogs inside of Reader. The export features will be extended to include the following.

  • Your subscriptions
  • Your shared items
  • Your friends
  • Your likes
  • Your starred items
I'm more curious to see how the new collaboration will port over to the smartphone apps, which is where I do most of my reading from. Regardless, I have no doubt in Google's ability to make a resourceful product out of this.
